Anger Management Classes

Youth Services collaborates with Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools to provide anger management classes.  These classes provide children with anger impulse control problems tools to more effectively manage their anger within the school environment.  The class also provides students a safe place to discuss home and social stress that can negatively impact school outcomes, including suspensions, detentions and other disciplinary actions.  Students are most commonly referred to the program by school counselors, teachers and administrators, but can be referred by parents who have observed their children struggling with anger impulses.  After referral, children are interviewed by Youth Services staff members to determine their goodness of fit for the group.  Student participation is voluntary unless otherwise stated by the school.  The group meets weekly during the school day, and rotates times so kids are not forced to miss the same class.

I want to take this time to tell you again how valuable your service has been to students in our school.  This year we have a student who is getting a new chance due to all of your efforts.” – School Counselor
