These are socialization groups for youngsters having difficulties making and keeping friends. The goals of the groups are to teach children appropriate social skills and build self-esteem, while exposing the youngsters to recreational and cultural activities. Group participants have the added benefit of just having fun. The groups are activity based and meet twice a month on Saturdays. Before joining Adventures the children set goals with their group leader. Goals are reviewed on a periodic basis and changed or modified as needed. There are these groups:
1. Weekend Adventures for students in grades 2 through 5.
2. Junior High Adventures for students in grades 6 through 8.
3. Non-Verbal Learning Disability / Asperger Socialization Group for students in
Grades
5-12.
Typical activities include roller skating, bowling, movies, craft days, picnics, swimming, going to the zoo, etc.
Volunteer opportunities are available.
